Silverjet nears end of line

The business class only airline Silverjet is still hopeful it will receive its £12.6 million rescue package as its backers “are still keen to invest”, a spokesman for the all-business airline said this morning.

The business carrier was dealt a major blow on Friday when it became clear there were problems with the money it needs to keep flying. The cash lifeline from Middle East investors stalled as shares were suspended.

Kenya tourism call by Virgin

Virgin is making a bid to help Kenya tourism with a dedicated advertising campaign which starts today (Monday 19th May).

The move coincided with the Virgin president Sir Richard Branson urging tourists to return to Kenya following the end of political unrest.

Speaking in Nairobi, he said: “The post election troubles, which were predominantly focused in the non-tourist areas, have now subsided.

The advertising push, which focuses on the migration of the Wildebeest, will appear at London’s Underground, mainline railway stations and the national press.

Holidaymakers spend more time in hotel

British travellers spend the majority of their time on holiday in bed, nursing hangovers, watching TV, getting ready and surfing the web, a new survey claims.

While more than 75% of the 1,000 respondents choose their hotel on the basis they will spend a minimal amount of time in the accommodation, the reality is much different. Book Cheap hotel and self catering accommodation.

While most Brits spend on average eight hours in bed, holidays see this increase to ten hours, the research shows.
