Cheaper holiday deals abroad travel comparison site

The cruise market, is attempting to  chase down more than five million potential ‘ cruise virgins ‘  as a market for UK travel agents to go after.

The figure of 5.4 million so-called potential cruisers was revealed by Cruise UK chief commercial officer Peter Shanks.

Running a cruise masterclass, Shanks said the UK cruise sector was set for 64% growth over five years from 1.35 million passengers this year to break through the two million barrier in 2010.

The market is currently worth £1.7 billion and will grow to £2.5 billion in five years, with commission available to agents almost doubling from £180 million to £320 million.

Despite annual average growth of 12% a year, less than three per cent of people who go on holidays take cruises as they are incorectly perceived to be too expensive…
